Keeping Canadians Safe — Bill C-10 Facts and Myths

During the election, our government made a promise to introduce comprehensive anti-crime legislation. Following through on that promise, we introduced Bill C-10, the Safe Streets and Communities Act. Some have expressed concerns regarding the Bill’s potential impact on our criminal justice system. For example, the NDP and Liberal opposition claim that we are drifting towards a criminal justice system similar to the United States. “These concerns have been fueled by misinformation often repeated in the media,” says Terence. “I feel it is important to clarify some of the contents of the Bill by separating myth from fact.” Read more...

Terence made a couple of new friends at Santa’s Spooktacular Halloween Scavenger Hunt in Heritage Square. Two lucky kids got a chance to ride on Santa’s float in the Oakville Santa Clause Parade.

Canadian star designer Leith Clark was inducted into the Blakelock High School Hall of Fame in October. Leith is a world leader in fashion design, now living in London, England. In her address to the students she said “The most important voice you should listen to is your own.”

Gloria and Terence chatted with Bollywood star Vinay Virmani of Oakville at the Ottawa National Art Centre premiere screening of the movie Breakaway, about the first all-Sikh hockey team – a funny and charming film. Vinay is an Appleby College grad!

Gloria and Terence attended the Empty Bowls fundraiser for Home Suite Hope at St. Mildred’s Lightbourn School. They were joined by Glen Herring, Empty Bowls “Soupervisor” Jules Graham-Hood, and St. Mildred’s principal Dorothy Byers.
